I am a physicist working in the area of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems. A general article I published in this area was in the context of a Workshop I had organized in 1996 on the theme, Chaos- A new Paradigm for comprehending nature; this can be accessed here.
One of the first applications that I had looked at had to do with Time Series Analysis of irregular data from a Complex system, and was in the area of Climate Studies. This work was done in collaboration with Prof. J Subba Rao at School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India and Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy at School of Physical Sciences of the same University.
Another application had to do with Phase Space Analysis of Chaotic Dynamics and was in the area of Biochemical Oscillations . This is a topic which was suggested to me by Somdatta Sinha at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India. The results of this work have been put out as a paper in International Journal of Bifurcations and Chaos, Vol. 8, No. 2, February 1998, pp 381-394.
I also worked on a project on Bioremediation . A CSIR laboratory situated in North-East India--- Regional Research Laboratory, Jorhat, Assam--- worried about the oil pollution in the state of Assam, which has a number of oil fields; contaminated soil and ground water is a serious problem in those areas. They set up laboratory models of bioremediation and I collaborated with them by setting up computer simulations of the same at C-MMACS. The simulation model has three variables, and involves coupled Ordinary Differential Equations and Partial Differential Equations; the ODEs act as boundary conditions for the PDEs.
I have looked at sliding block models for earthquakes involving stick-slip dynamics and, in this context, the concept of Self-organised Criticality .

I love good literature and one of my favorite authors is Gaston Bachelard. Particularly his trilogy, Poetics of Space, Poetics of Reverie and Psychoanalysis of Fire, is one of my alltime favorites.
Here are a couple of photographs of my two children... First one is Sneha and second is Arya.
I am from Kerala and here's a sample floral decoration (click on it to enlarge it) of Kerala- one which is an integral part of ONAM, a festival of Kerala which is usually in the month of September. For 10 consecutive days, all houses will have a floral decoration of this sort in their front yard, re-done fresh every day.
I once designed some furniture in Coffee Wood (Kerala grows a lot of coffee...this wood is from Wayanad area, i.e. the hills around Kozhikode (formerly Calicut) which you have to cross when you travel from Kozhikode to Mysore/Bangalore); here are some photos of it
