Objectives and Scope
The objective of the present project will be to develop, configure, calibrate and validate a regional climate modeling platform integrating models and data to generate quantitative assessment and projections of sustainability and effective adaptation and mitigation strategies.
The programme will have three major components:
A: Understanding and Quantification of Regional Climate Change
- Natural variability Vs induced climate changeB: Impact and Sustainability Analysis
- Extreme events in a changing climateC: Design and Assessment of Mitigation Strategies
- Identification of control parameters
- Regional climate change in a global environment
- Urban land use and regional climate
- Health impacts of climate change
- Climate change and agricultural productivity
- Disease and pests in a changed climate
- Climate change and biodiversity
- Structures and Codes for changed climate
- Energy usage and products for mitigation of climate change
- Products for a changed climate
Scope of the Project and Major Phases
Climate variability and climate change, of course, encompass a very large variety of issues, and a strong focus is necessary for a time-bound programme with identified deliverables. The scope of the present project is limited to develop an integrated platform for simulating climate change and its impact at decadal scale over the monsoon region, as schematically presented below:
